Things

No links today, because I haven't done anything. Life intrudes. On a positive note, Part One of Portal to Adventure continues to be the most downloaded story in Science Fiction and Adventure. It is close to the top in the overall category, topped only by two guides by Mark Coker, founder of Smashwords and several stories in the erotica category. Maybe a John Smith, Bone Jumper story should be in the works. OK, bad taste, I know it.. But dang, those erotica stories are being posted, and apparently downloaded like hotcakes.

The story also, surprisingly, continues to sell. Seems like some people are liking it enough to give it a try.

Still working on getting my reading up to the level where I feel comfortable posting a podcast or audio version of the story, but with the serial format, maybe that will alow more people to enjoy the story.

Part Eight

Sorry, no link or coupon yet, still finishing up the story. I think a month between parts is a little too long, but I have been trying to get a little more done on "Eagles in the Sand," my non-serialized adventure novel. I've had the idea for ten years, but besides a highly detailed outline have only a pathetic 110+ pages to show. The really sad part is I write fast when I do sit down to do it. I am easily "but first..ed"

I just got my first (hopefully not last) check for writing. Not much to write home about, but an accomplishment nonetheless. I think I'll frame the check, or a copy of it at least..

Now I am officially a paid author.

Pure Escapism, Vol One

I didn't start this blog with the intention of promoting other authors, but I when I ran across Pure Escapism, Vol. One on Smashwords I knew I had to. Mr. Warwick hails from Australia, and has started an impressive series of short stories. If his first effort is any indication, this is an author to follow. Read as much as you can now, while it's free. Before too long, Mr. Warwick will realize the value of his work and charge $.

As I have attempted to do with the John Smith, World Jumper series, Mr. Warwick seems to write in a fast paced, action oriented style while presenting characters that aren't overly angsy and flawed like so many of today's heroes. His stories are just the type of thing to get men reading again. No offense meant ladies, as you may find his stories enjoyable as well, but with the continued sucess of Romance novels, we need something to read that gives us just as much guilty pleasure.

Mr. Warwick delivers. Check him out, you won't regret it.
